and a bonus photo 😉
The rambling part…
Football match for Sx was cancelled due to flooding and Gx is away at Nan and Pop’s house this weekend so it meant we got an unusual lie in this morning (so of course I woke really early and couldn’t get back to sleep!) I love the mornings we don’t have sport – they are like a holiday. We can laze around in pyjamas, take our time getting organised and STILL its earlier than we normally start the day post-football. I have a little glimpse into how weekends used to be many years ago!!
I hoped to go and take some photos with my unexpected free time, but it was misty and then began to rain so Sx and I went into town for our annual “mother and son Christmas shop and lunch trip” taking the point-and-shoot with us.
Since the two eldest were little we have taken them individually to the £1 shop and allowed them free rein to buy a present for Matt and I, their siblings and Nan and Pop. They pick some “interesting” choices sometimes but it is only £1 so it’s not a big problem if it’s not the most suitable present. They love the freedom of buying “anything in the shop” and their choices are often hilarious! As Matt reads this I shall have to keep our purchases secret 😉 (He will take Sx to buy my present).
The water levels were REALLY high in the centre of town after all the rain the last couple of days.
We always spend longer lunching than shopping (they are boys after all!) and for the last four years the restaurant of choice has been Pizza Hut – although ideally they like to go when the all-you-can-eat buffet is on.
It was interesting to see how Sx has grown up in the last year – he was no longer interested in the Pizza Hut children’s magazine with its puzzles and colouring – and no way was he going to come into the Ladies’ with me in the mall – he went in the Men’s and met me outside!
Of course you are NEVER too grown up for unlimited ice cream from the ice cream factory!
