Nan and Pop came over today to help me with some decluttering. Once the children came home Nan helped the smaller two to ice some gingerbread men with chocolate, sprinkles and marshmallows.

I was drugged up to the eyeballs today for a minor procedure and was thoroughly looked after by Matt. He picked the children up from school, took the little two swimming, made them all tea, took them to youth club, picked them up and then made dinner for me. How lovely to be looked after. Off to watch Sx play nother league rugby game today. There was a sudden squall and sleet just before the game but luckily it stopped before the match and we just had a strong wind to contend with. The boys were successful again and are currently unbeaten.

We came home and watched the England rugby game (while I did the weekly ironing) before Matt cooked us all a roast. How lovely to all sit down as a family to a roast together after a real “family” day.

Sx stayed at his Dad’s last night and got a lift to rugby training from him. So the rest of us had a leisurely start to the day which is the perfect excuse for pancakes.

Lx decided to give me a hand. Or was it that I gave HER a hand? Either way – we all got some pancakes which is what matters.

Sx had a day of rugby training today – the rest of us had a day of chilling without Sx. It worked well all round – apart from the bit where we all had to get up early to drive Sx to training and had to negotiate our way round about 10 roundabouts because of a short stretch of roadworks, a closed road and no diversion sign. Thank heavens for Sat Nav.

Sx was suitably muddy when we picked him up – perhaps next time though I should take a photo of my bathroom after he had been in there washing it off!

We all had pancakes for breakfast…and the little two had pancakes for dinner.

The older two managed to convince me to buy 2-for-1-Tuesday pizzas for dinner. My diet is really suffering right now.

TREMEER_KN3A3822-EditTerrible mother that I am – I dragged my children out for ANOTHER walk. With ANOTHER dog. This time it was a friend of Sx’s and his Mum so Sx couldn’t complain (as much)

Obviously it rained the whole time – but the children seem to be getting more used to the idea of walking.

TREMEER_KN3A3816Back to their house for lunch and a chat before my children raised the decibel levels just a little too much for a house used to only one child – and we came home.

On the way home Sx said he felt really ill (having been a bit off colour all day) so he took himself off to bed but came down after an hour unable to sleep. He was really really sick which seemed to help although I banned him from playing computer games for the rest of the day to avoid overdoing things. Instead I had to put up with endless rugby on TV!

Gx
When we went out yesterday we got a hand-me-down guitar from my nephew who was getting rid of it. Surprisingly the person who seems the most interested in it is Gx – who has been happily strumming away.

Is turning the holidays into a TV fest.Current favourites are Girl Meets World, The Thundermans, Good Luck Charlie and See Dad Run. All pretty interchangeable in the storylines and quality!

Dx
IS having a great time playing Minecraft with Gx and FIFA with Sx. They both choose him rather than each other so he gets a good portion of PS4 time.

My turn to go to Dx’s rugby and for the second week in a row he didn’t moan about it!! He played really well despite thick mud (or because of it?) and got a medal for “outstanding play” in his group. He hates playing “bulldog” though which is strange as Sx hated it too – I think it’s the suspense of waiting to be caught.

KN3A3697(2) KN3A3752(2) KN3A3783(2)Sx
Had a good match in the morning but was not “on fire” like he was last week unfortunately. He needs to get hungrier – it was a huge difference last week. He loved going to a local trampoline “park” in the afternoon with his grown up cousins and was determined to wear his tight jeans not tracksuit trousers (so he looked “cool” – despite the fact it was not so easy to do somersaults etc in them

Gx
Still being difficult and moody unfortunately. He enjoyed the trampolining too which was their Christmas present for their godparent cousins – and loved the carvery meal we went to with all my side of the family in the evening (to catch up with Barry and Janet home for a week from Holland and to see Rachel and Mike’s honeymoon photos)

Lx

Had turkey and yorkshire pudding (and bread and butter) at tonight’s carvery – a big step for her . I asked Matt to get her to try on some glittery sparkly shoes to see if they fitted her. She claimed they did but as we walked into the restaurant from the car it was obvious they were WAY too big – but she was just so keen to wear them she didn’t care!

Dx
Was heartbroken to find that Matt hd left tissue paper on his iced biscuit that he made for Valentines Day at Pilots on Monday. He had drawn a heart and written in icing on it which was difficult to do and he was so upset that the tissue had stuck to it an obliterated it – and because it had been like that for several days there was no shifting it.

Is off to a party tonight 8.15-10pm for one of the “cool girls” at school. He is quietly pleased to have been invited – and idnt want to be picked up as he wanted to walk home I put my foot down at him awalknig home in the dark at 10pm though so Matt is going to wait discretely on the road outside. He got his school report today – disappointed that there are two “3”s for effort – for Geography and Tech but pleased he has pulled his English mark up an got a good effort score for it. And how lovely to read “Sx’s musical ability is a rather special talent”.

Gx
Is still very moody – arguing with me and annoying the others. Year 6 (thefinal year of secondary school) is hard for children – S found it hard and I wonder if it is affecting Gx the same kind of way.

Lx
Was pleased to have a day off school toay as an INSET day – especially as poor Sx had to go to school. She enjoyed my attempts to make personalised pancakes for breakfast. I am hoping to make heart themed ones tomorrow for Valentines Day

Is on the “blue” pathway thanks to his improved English It means he is on the “top” selection and is able to choose subjects for his GCSEs which are considered more academically challenging. He is looking to carry on with PE and either computer science or music (very different choices!!)

Gx
Enjoys the fact he gets some independence walking home on a Thursday because the younger two do art club

Lx
Remembered to wear an art apron for her art club today…but when I picked her up her trousers were just green, completely green, with glitter! Luckily most of it just shook off but her “pencil tidy” castle is now on a base of green glitter – so I am afraid every time she selects a pencil the glitter will spread again!

Dx
Is really pleased with his pencil tidy his is grey and more “manly” than Lx’s pink one. He seems more convinced that he enjoys art club at present.
