I have been meaning to photograph this grass verge for the last few weeks. The council have seeded wildflowers there and it is just beautiful. It is an area about 15ft by 8ft (I am not great with measurements! But it isn’t huge)
The council have seeded wildflowers there and it is just beautiful. It is an area about 15ft by 8ft (I am not great with measurements! But it isn’t huge) Hopefully the photo below gives an idea of the size of it – and the location between the busy suburban road and the pavement I asked Sx to get me some wine before I logged on to look at his school report. He came in with the bottle and no glass. #ominous
(It was actually OK but 7 teachers remarked on his lack of focus and how easily distracted he was. We have been referred for help with this as I think it is a real problem for him. Hopefully this report will provide evidence of how much it is affecting his school work)
I picked up the orders for the pre-school photos today and was overwhelmed by the orders. What pleased me most of all was I had made a decision to offer the photos for a sensible price as I think often school photos are so expensive for what they are. I was really pleased that the decision had led to people being happy to order more – so it was win win for all involved.
A day spent catching up on the housework – and then an evening in with a friend, a chinese takeaway and some bottles of wine.
The day didn’t start well with someone going into the back of my car on the motorway. I was on a slip road between one motorway and another and rounded the corner to find the traffic at a standstill. So I stopped. Unfortunately the car behind me didn’t. He was very nice about it, apologised, checked I was ok and exchanged details but it left me a bit shaken – and it left me on a bend having to pull back out into speeding motorway traffic.
After a morning editing cirus photos for the school, I went in to drop them off and to watch the slideshow being shown to the children of the photos I took at their sports day. It was lovely to see – and hear! – their reactions. They loved to se themselves looking so passionate and determined.
The Lx was in an assembly and had quite a few lines to say as the sports reporter! She was nervous and pretty speedy delivering them “Cinderella was disappointed to be dropped from the fairyland football team. Her coach defended his decision “she kept running away from the ball – what choice did I have?”
In the evening while the little two were at youth club I took a quick tour of the garden with my macro lens to get today’s 365 photos – and discovered a whole community living on the thistles outside the front door!!
A chance today to meet up with the people I met on my college photography course. It took a while for us to get going with meeting up socially – but we are managing to get together every few months. There are a few faces missing each time but thankfully not the same ones each time.
There was some play on the playground, a walk around the lake (which flew by as we were chatting so much!) a picnic lunch and a wander through a field of long grass in search of dragon flies and damselflies
The lawn has been on my To do list for weeks. Especially the side lawn which hadn’t been done this year (oops). Today the sun was out and the children didn’t have an afterschool club so it was all systems go.
The front and back lawns now look great as they just needed retrimming. unfortunately the mower simply laughed when I showed it the side lawn. It’s too long for it to cope with. SO I am going to have to borrow my parents strimmer (and admit to my ineptitude).
Because of how long all that took me and my mood of uselessness at not managing to finish it all I took the kids to McDs for a drive thru dinner. Which then begs the question would I have been better off paying someone to cut it and making the kids dinner! Oh well.
I popped out to take some photos of the children playing outside to cheer me up as it was a beautiful evening – but I got chatting toa neighbour instead and before I knew it, it was bedtime for the little ones. So while they got their PJs on – I went to document my day with some theraputic macro photos of the grass which is as yet uncut at the side of the house. Well there has to be a GOOD side to it still being long…
PS This morning I was attacked by low flying spaghetti before I had even managed to have a coffee. And in other news, Sx managed to outdo even his previous track record for absent mindedness and walked to school without calling for his friend. Luckily he remembered to call for the second friend on his route – who soon pointed out there was someone missing!
But at school pick up time it threw it down in a way I dont know I have ever seen before. We all got so wet walking home – as did Sx who walked back wearing his shirt and blazer and who was soaked to the skin when he got back
