Time to get some more practice with my speedlite for the online course I am on. My daughter kindly posed for me in her PJs!

inAnother lazy day today where Matt did the football run with Gx and Sx and I stayed in silence indoors. Sx is obviously still not well as there was no demur about not playing sport this weekend.
I was challenged by a friend to do the “5 day black and white challenge” – taking a black and white photo a day for 5 days.
So I took this one to remember my #2 son who goes away for a week tomorrow

I felt very virtuous today as I got on well with the decluttering of my house I think I am in a good stage of it at the moment where I am shipping out boxes to various places and so the space I have made in various rooms is more obvious. However it is a little bit of “smoke and mirrors” as there are still plenty of boxes to be gone through and got rid of – and that will be another slow stage of the process.
Sx had a friend back tonight – to go for a practice run with (they are doing a 4k fun run in a few weeks time) and to stay for tea. Having a friend for tea is not the done thing anymore now he is at secondary school so it is an event indeed! His new friend was lovely and can definitely come again!
One thing I didn’t feel so virtuous about today was having taken any photos. I didn’t feel at all inspired and felt very lazy – until inspired by this blog and another friend who is doing a daily low light project I got the camera and the ipad out. I am still experimenting with light in order to identify light sources and its effects more easily These photos were lit solely with the ipad.
My car has been out of action for the last couple of days since the windscreen wipers decided to keep going even when the car was switched off. There was nothing I could do so the battery drained down overnight – with a grand finale at 4am where he car alarm randomly went off as it died. Tonight Matt took the battery out to go and recharge at his house. I noticed the low light “photo opportunity” out of the window so went to grab a couple of quick shots.
This isn’t the best shot of a moon (!) but I did like how you can see the full shape of the moon hidden behind the shadow. And it fitted the low light/light source theme 🙂

Another chilled out time at home today – and another chance to try out some photos thinking about available lighting.
I am lucky that my kids are so amenable about having their photo taken – they tend to just get on with what they are doing and ignore me. And generally if I need a little help from them they are happy to oblige.
In these shots, Lx was watching Tv (as usual) and happy to just move her eyes to look at me every now and again when asked.
She is so photogenic i am really lucky that even a shot of her in her scruffy clothes, watching TV with her hair unbrushed can turn out to be so lovely.

Firstly…the 365 project photo for today.
I normally like her in colour but I loved this in black and white…
**********************************************
And now the rambling part…
I spent today trying to sort through the toys in the playroom to see what we can get rid of. I find it incredibly hard to part with the old friends from their little years – even including the toy cooker we have had since Sx was tiny (and which NONE of them have ever been very interested in!) I think I used to be a squirrel in a previous life.
The children were no help either – as soon as I made a pile (of old playdo, neglected puzzles, long forgotten jigsaws…) they leapt on them and bore them off to different parts of the house to play with them.
Lx had fun with the playdo – great concentration as I circled her with my camera in my hand…
…and Dx made a train out of the magnetic shapes (see all the jumble of things getting sorted behind him!).
Meanwhile Sx went to extra rugby training and was issued with his first “named” shirt. Watch out for number 14…
PS I am better at breaking eggs than making omlettes. So we are now living in even BIGGER chaos – with piles of sorted toys and clothes around me. Well – there is always tomorrow to do something about it …
