The first day of the half term holiday. We hadn’t planned too much due to the terrible storm forecast last night and the resulting devastation promised by the media. As it was, we woke here after a restful night to blue skies and a breezy day. We were very lucky compared to other parts of the country.
Sx was keen to show me his tricks – and for me to take photos so he can share them with his friends. Unfortunately for a lot of them he was pulling ridiculous faces from the effort of it all so the photos were not ones he would want to share! Then it was Lx’s turn and she tried to show me some tricks too…
Local businesses and residents in a local village have made displays relating to different nursery rhymes. We bought a map of the trail for £1 and set off. It took us about 60-90 minutes to make it around about 12 of them.
Here are some of our favourites.
“Baa baa black sheep…” (loved the hand written sign and the writing on the bags of wool!)
Dr Foster went to Gloucester…(complete with some details on how it was done)(and great accessories)“Pussy Cat Pussy Cat where have you been…”“I frightened a little mouse under her chair…”Oh dear what can the matter be, three old ladies stuck in the lavatory…”
(even better – these old ladies were set up to talk to us!!)
“The Queen of hearts made some tarts…”
“Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet…”
A fabulous day photography wise – so many photos I am splitting them into a few posts.
First of all, the most important momentous event of the day, Gx scored a goal at his football match! It is only his 2nd ever goal (he is a defender which doesn’t help) and i was so thrilled for him. It must be tough when he hears Sx casually announce he got “another hat trick” some weeks – but he was made up today to score a goal – and not only “a” goal – but a great goal at that.
As if that wasn’t enough – he managed to do it while I had my camera trained on his so I could get a photo…And he managed to position himself perfectly so that the other players faces were hidden so I can share his moment of glory with you here.
See these smiles? These are the proud smiles of a goal scorer.
(A one day project. I am trying to take 12 photos, one every hour between 7.30am and 7.30 pm to document our day and hopefully get me out of a rut and give me some inspiration for future photos)
Lx’s turn with her homework. She had some homework for literacy which was way beyond her (choosing the correct word to place int he sentence – where the words were things like waddling, soaring, streaming etc which she doesn’t know what any of them mean) So instead we did some maths questions tailored just for her. She needs a lot of help with the basicsof how numbers fit together right now.

But now suddenly. Its all over. Grey, wet, miserable weather. Having to wear shoes with socks and remember to take coats. In a week we have moved on.
