After two hours of rugby training in the rain, Sx came home proud to have been chosen as “kicker” for the A team. He taught himself to “punt” a rugby ball (dropping it and kicking it before it hit the ground) when he was 18 months old – and with a full sized ball! – so he has probably been practising kicking a rugby ball for longer than most of his team which must help. Who knows, perhaps one day these (muddy) feet will be as famous for their kicking power as Jonny WIilkinson’s!

As per usual the incessant rain hadnt phased him – more surprisingly Gx had happily played in it and came home without a moan about it!

Meanwhile warm and dry back at home, Lx and I spent some time on her homework (loads of homework AND work to familiarise and back up stuff they are doing at school. Seems like far too much work!) I let her decide on the description of the Autumn scene but I typed it up for her to save her having to think about the spellings, how to hold the pencil etc. She was really proud to use two of her favourite words “fascinating” and “sapphire”…

“From a distance I can see a sapphire lake, gleaming in the sunshine.  The mountains are steaming, covered in cold, white, fluffy snow. In the blue sky the floating clouds are fascinating shapes.

Orange leaves are covering the trees because its Autumn  The cold, blue water of the lake reflects the mountains like a mirror.

A tiny, white boat is bobbing up and down on the waves of the lake. The people from the boat are rowing, making splashes  in the freezing water.”
