“Lace”
The rambling part…
This morning we had another frost. Another day where the car wouldn’t start (I sooooo miss our car which was written off in January and which never gave us any problems starting – unless the children left the interior lights on).
Luckily after bemoaning the lack of frosty cobwebs this year I was inundated with people telling me how wonderful they were this morning so I set out on a web hunt. I was helped only by an old lady I didn’t know inviting me to take photos of the magnificent ones on her patio as she set off to walk her dog “go on in the side gate – its unlocked”! How kind and trusting was she?! After limited success elsewhere I returned home – to find my own back garden riddled with them – typical
(If you had enough of the frost photos yesterday…you might want to scroll down to the photos further down!)
After being inspired by a photo by http://bestof2sisters.com I thought I would ask Sx if he wanted to make some birdfeed Christmas decorations for the tree in the front garden. After some initial lack of enthusiasm (hoping to be allowed some peace to play on the PC instead) he then decided to make them as I began to cook dinner. I had visions of spectacular snowman, star and christmas tree shaped bird cakes hanging from the tree which would make me the talk of the neighbourhood and the envy of everyone around.
Unfortunately it didn’t go like that! We mixed the seed, we melted the fat, we mixed. We tried cookie cutters. We tried shaping by hand. But the mix was obviously not right as my wonderful stars (below) that I eventually managed to fashion by hand (“maybe if you add another point it would look more like a star”) simply crumbled when touched. Never mind – we have something we are calling “Christmas Cake for Birds” and which will be given out to them for breakfast every morning until it runs out!
PS Both the boys are quite good at sign language but tonight Gx was asking the sign for Jesus
me: you point to the middle of one palm and then point to the middle of the other palm
me : why do you think that the sign for Jesus?
Gx: ooh I know – is it because of “Palm” Sunday???
I’m still giggling when I think of it!
