Pony rides were cancelled this morning as the lady wasn’t well so instead we got a special trip on Richard’s new huge trailer down to the fishing lake. It was beautiful down there but very muddy. luckily Richard remembered just in time to tell people to go get their wellies before we left.

Then home for an Easter egg hunt round the farm…

then a lunchtime barbeque with friends. beautiful weather for it and they invited most of the families staying on the farm so a chance to chat and get to know people…

It was nearly evening feeding by the time I dragged myself away from socialising – and another quick easter egg hunt in the gardens of one of the cottages. Then home to pack as tonight is unfortunately our last night here.

Thursday 17/4/2014 – Day out

After putting it off all week because it was just too easy to laze around at the farm, today we were determined to get out for the day. There was no room for me on the quad bike trailer ride today so the kids went off while I packed up lunch.

A mini train ride, a maze, two playgrounds,  two treasure hunts and “the vault” a set of puzzles to solve as the clock counts down. We had a great day – and a good choice on the only overcast day of the week.

Wednesday 16/4/2014 – Clay Pigeon Shoot

We had a lie in this morning so needed to take our croissants and coffee down to the barn to be sure of being there when feeding happened (farm time is approximate and can sometimes be 30 minutes earlier or later than normal time!)

More horse riding this morning – today the children got some advice on how to “steer the horse” which they enjoyed.

Then a lazy day in the sunshine – Dx has fallen in love with the sandpit – its huge and probably has the best view of any sandpit ever!!

A couple of the Dads did some clay pigeon shooting in one of the fields in the evening. Gx went to watch but it was cold and noisy so they helped dress him up appropriately!!

In the evening we cooked dinner for two of the other families and Richard (the farmer) and his girlfriend. The kids had their dinner first out on the balcony and then we set them free to play while the grown ups ate.

Tuesday 15/4 – Trailer Ride

After feeding today it was time for one of the children’s favourite farm activities – the trailer ride. Normally I haven’t managed to do this as Matt would go along and space on the trailer is limited – but today I managed to squeeze on. We all had to get off at one point when Richard got us stuck in the mud but luckily without the weight of us all on it  – he got it out again without an issue.

The sunsets from our decking are so beautiful.

Sunday 13/4/2014 – Farm Fun

Time for our annual visit to the farm for a week. This is our first visit without Matt. Other than that everything is much as it always is, great views, cute animals to feed and the kids running wild while I relax with a book. Great for everyone 🙂

The only downside was that the shopping wasn’t delivered last night as the driver couldn’t find the farm in the dark! So we were a little short of food in the morning till it got sorted out. Luckily we had some farm eggs and some boys who were keen to have boiled eggs for lunch!
